On Saturday 27 June 2026 a ceremony was held in Halifax. The Canadian Army stood down its 5th Division as twilight fell over the base parade ground. Senior officers, veterans and staff assembled together. Colours were lowered. A plaque was presented to honor the unit’s legacy. The final bugle sounded as the event closed.
Officials confirmed the change is part of a re‑organisation of Canada’s land forces. Following decades of duty the 5th Division will disappear as a separate formation.
