Dhilmar struck a deal to buy Anglo American’s Australian steelmaking coal mines in a cash deal around $3.9 billion, with completion anticipated by early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions. The move forms part of Anglo American's exit from steelmaking coal, in a portfolio simplification ahead of a merger, and also includes several Queensland mines along with Middlemount town transfer. In addition, Dhilmar is reported to acquire Newmont's Éléonore mine in Canada for $795 million, set for completion in early 2025, marking Dhilmar's involvement in strategic asset reshuffles in both regions.
