Travellers now solely use the Coquihalla Highway, bypassing the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, releasing thick smoke. Smoke is heavy and clearly to see, lowering visibility. A second blaze erupted south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire affects 300 hectares. It forced officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now impeded.
