He said, "wishing you the very best". No explanation was given for why Cowell missed the episode. The show went ahead with Thompson among the judges. Separately, The X Factor is said to be in line for television. The revived series would have a fresh judging panel, reports say. Cowell's involvement is not yet confirmed.
